The Polished Man’s Three-Piece Formula for Autumn

An elegant autumn wardrobe does not have to be complicated. For men, three well-chosen pieces can cover an impressive amount of ground: a jacket that fits, a fine knit and trousers with a neat hem.

Charcoal makes a strong starting point. It works with black, cream and burgundy, and it feels at home during both the working day and an evening out. A dark fine-gauge knit beneath a charcoal jacket is especially easy to wear. It adds warmth while keeping the silhouette clean.

The small details deserve attention. A jacket should allow comfortable movement through the shoulders. Trousers should fall neatly over the shoes. Clean, cared-for footwear will do more for an outfit than an accessory added at the last minute.
