A Festive Italian Christmas Salad, Served in Abundance.

This Italian salad is Christmas elegance in a bowl—fresh, generous, and beautifully indulgent. Served in a large bowl designed for sharing, it brings colour, texture, and balance to the festive table. Crisp greens meet creamy mozzarella, sweet cherry tomatoes, delicate prosciutto, and briny olives, all brought together with a light, aromatic dressing. It’s the kind of dish that feels both celebratory and refreshing, offering a perfect contrast to richer Christmas mains.

What makes this salad special is its harmony. Every ingredient has space to shine, yet nothing overpowers the other. The softness of mozzarella, the saltiness of prosciutto, the crunch of croutons, and the brightness of fresh vegetables create a layered experience that feels luxurious without being heavy. It’s effortless, elegant, and unmistakably festive, ideal for Christmas lunch or dinner.

Recipe: Big Italian Christmas Salad Bowl

Ingredients

  • Mixed salad leaves (romaine, arugula, and baby spinach)

  • Cherry tomatoes, halved

  • Fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini)

  • Prosciutto slices

  • Black olives (pitted)

  • Marinated artichoke hearts, quartered

  • Cucumber, sliced

  • Red onion, thinly sliced

  • Croutons

  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

For the Dressing

  • ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Method

Start by washing and drying all salad leaves thoroughly. Arrange them generously in a large serving bowl, creating a soft base. Scatter cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives, and artichokes evenly over the greens.

Add the mozzarella balls, nestling them gently into the salad, followed by folds of prosciutto placed lightly on top for an elegant finish. Sprinkle croutons for crunch and shave Parmesan generously over the salad.

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, vinegar, mustard, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano until well combined. Drizzle the dressing lightly over the salad just before serving, tossing gently if desired.

Serve this salad fresh and chilled, allowing its colours and textures to speak for themselves. It’s a reminder that Christmas food doesn’t always have to be heavy—sometimes, the most beautiful dishes are the simplest, made with care and shared generously.
