The Forgotten Beauty Zone: Why Your Neck, Hands and Décolletage Deserve a Routine.

We spend generously on facial serums, moisturisers and masks, yet often stop our skincare routine at the jawline. Meanwhile, the neck, hands and décolletage—the upper chest and shoulder area—remain exposed to sunlight, weather, frequent washing and environmental stress.

These areas can develop dryness, uneven tone and visible signs of ageing, sometimes more quickly than the face. A polished beauty routine should not end at your chin. It should continue gracefully downwards.

Your Neck Is Part of Your Face

The skin on the neck is delicate and has fewer oil glands than many areas of the face. This means it can become dry and show fine lines easily.

After applying your facial serum and moisturiser, gently extend the remaining product over your neck using light upward movements. Avoid aggressive rubbing or pulling. You do not necessarily need a separate neck cream; a gentle, hydrating facial moisturiser can work beautifully.

Your Décolletage Needs Protection

Low necklines leave the upper chest exposed to daylight, yet this area is frequently missed when sunscreen is applied. Over time, repeated exposure can contribute to uneven pigmentation, dryness and loss of firmness.

Each morning, extend your broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher over your neck, upper chest and any exposed shoulder area. In the evening, apply a nourishing moisturiser to keep the skin soft and comfortable.

If you use active ingredients such as retinoids or exfoliating acids, introduce them cautiously. The décolletage may be more sensitive than the face, so begin slowly and stop if irritation develops.

Your Hands Reveal What Your Face Conceals

Our hands work constantly. They are washed, sanitised and exposed to the sun throughout the day, yet they are often moisturised only when they feel painfully dry.

Keep hand cream beside your sink, in your handbag and near your bed. Reapply it after washing whenever possible. Choose formulas containing ingredients such as glycerin, ceramides, shea butter or hyaluronic acid to support the skin barrier.

During the day, apply sunscreen to the backs of your hands—especially before driving or spending time outdoors. Remember to reapply it after frequent handwashing.

The Three-Minute Extended Beauty Routine

Every morning:

  1. Cleanse your face gently.

  2. Apply your serum to the face and neck.

  3. Moisturise the face, neck, décolletage and hands.

  4. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to every exposed area.

Every evening:

  1. Remove makeup and cleanse.

  2. Apply hydrating skincare beyond the jawline.

  3. Massage moisturiser gently into the neck and upper chest.

  4. Finish with a generous hand cream and cuticle oil.

Once or twice a week, gently exfoliate the hands and décolletage if your skin tolerates it—but avoid harsh scrubs, excessive pressure and over-exfoliation.

Consistency Is the Real Luxury

A beautiful routine does not need to contain twenty expensive products. It needs to be consistent.

The easiest rule is simple: whenever you care for your face, remember your neck, hands and décolletage. These areas deserve the same protection, hydration and attention.

True polish is not created by focusing on one feature while neglecting everything around it. It comes from thoughtful care, repeated quietly and consistently—from your forehead to your fingertips.
