A nurse who said an unarmed black man “deserved” to be shot by police has been fired from her hospital job following the insensitive remark.

Faith Linthicum, a Sacramento nurse at Kaiser Permanente's Roseville Medical Center, made the controversial remark on Facebook after father-of-two Stephen Clark was gunned down by police in his grandmother’s backyard on March 18 for holding a cell phone which they thought was a gun. In the Facebook comment, Faith said Clark “deserved it for being stupid."

15 killed, 55 Persons injured in Boko Haram attack in Maiduguri

At least 15 persons have been confirmed dead and 55 others sustained injuries in an attack by Boko Haram insurgents at Bale community in the outskirts of Maiduguri last night April 1st.

Sporadic gunshots and multiple explosions which lasted for hours were heard from the outskirts of the city. The sect members attacked Bale-Shuwa and Bale-Kura communities near Maiduguri in an attempt to infiltrate the town at about 8: 00pm.

Security operatives engaged the sect members in a fierce gun battle.

An FBI chief has said Keith Raniere is charged with "a disgusting abuse of power" and branded his actions "serious crimes against humanity".

Raniere, 57, was arrested in Mexico and faces sex trafficking and forced labour charges.

Nigeria Government releases more names of looters, new list includes FFK, Diezani Alison Madueke, Sambo Dasuki, Stella Oduah, Rasheed Ladoja, others

The Federal Government has said the list of alleged looters which it released earlier was based on verifiable facts, including the amount involved, the date the amount in question was collected and from where it was taken.

Releasing a fresh list of alleged looters, in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, also said those complaining that the list was too short apparently did not understand that it was strategically released as a teaser.

''At the press conference where the list was released, I did say it was a tip of the iceberg. Apparently, this does not mean anything to people whose style is to comment on issues they barely understand, or just to shoot down anything coming from the government,'' he said, adding that the Federal Government has a large number of alleged looters on its list.

Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi who was defeated in the 2013 governorship election in Ekiti state is set to contest for the position again on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).  

The current Minister of Mines and Steel Development was defeated by incumbent Ayo Fayose of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).  Fayemi said on Sunday that he will contest the July 14 gubernatorial election.  

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the minister made his ambition known at a news conference at his Isan-Ekiti country home in Oye Local Government Area of the state. Fayemi had hosted leaders and scores of members of the party from all the 16 Local Government Areas and the 177 Wards of the state.

10 people die following the collapse of a 4-storey hotel building in India

At least 10 people died and two were injured when a four-storey hotel collapsed in a crowded part of the central Indian city of Indore late on Saturday, a local police official said.  

Rescue operations were complete and no other casualties were likely, assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Kirade told Reuters. While the building was old, the reason for its collapse was not immediately known, Kirade said.
