A popular businessman in Ebonyi State, Chief Monday Okeh narrowly escaped assassination on his way to a meeting in Abakaliki.

It was gathered that Chief Okeh, a.k.a Emebeifego, who owns a popular hotel 'Monablis' located in the state capital was abducted by four men last Friday night.

Offa bank robberies: Dismissed police officer admits to killing over 20 persons, gives reason why he ensured he killed policemen

The dismissed Corporal turned leader of the armed robbery gang that attacked commercial banks in Offa, Kwara State on April 5th, Michael Adiku has given reasons why he killed over 20 persons including police officers during the robbery incident.

Speaking with detectives after his arrest, Adikwu said he deliberately killed the policemen that day because he has scores to settle with the system that dismmissed him from service.

The Nation reports that Adikwu, a Corporal attached to the Kwara State unit of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), was dismissed after he was accused of freeing suspected armed robbers. He was later charged to court and sent to prison, where he spent three years. Upon his release, he formed the robbery gang that attacked the banks.

The Lagos state police command has arrested the financier of Magico Football Academy Agege, Victor Achidume, 43, for allegedly shaving the pubic hair of five teenage boys.

Achideume was arrested after one of the students fell ill and informed his parents that their financier had shaved his armpit and private part on May 9th after warning him and others not to tell anyone.

“We do not belong to his team. We met him during a football match and he invited us to his house. He used to talk about football to us and he used to dash us N100 or N200. He told us to be coming to his house every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I went with my friends the first time. He asked me if I had shaved my armpit and private part before and I said no. And then, he shaved it. He was talking about football as he was doing it. Then, he said I should not tell anyone and that I should be coming to his place to collect N100.” Oluwaseun said

Tamaryn beat 11 other dazzling young women from across South Africa to scoop the prestigious crown. She will also represent the country on a global stage at Miss Universe SA.  

Pretty Tamaryn made it to the top two and beat 26-year-old‚ University of Cape Town graduate Thulisa Keyi who walked away with the Miss World SA title.  Tamaryn is a medical student from the Western Cape. She won the judges over when she told them that she would use her medical knowledge to heal people.

Dino Melaye made the fresh allegation on his IG page after he shared a photo of a document from the police when his house was last searched. Dino wrote

'National assembly members are notorious for demanding bribes with impunity' - Former INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega

The former chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega has said members of the national assembly are notorious for demanding bribes.

Jega spoke on Monday in Abuja while delivering a lecture titled, ‘Peace building and good governance for sustainable development in Nigeria’ as part of activities organised to mark the 2018 Democracy Day.  

He said lawmakers often take bribes under the pretext of committee work and oversight functions and he suugested that the scope of the anti-corruption fight should be extended to cover bribe-taking and giving especially in government agencies.

YouTube deletes half of 'violent' music videos in UK

YouTube says it has deleted more than half of the "violent" music videos that the country's most senior police officer asked it to take down. More than 30 clips have been removed so far. 

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick has blamed some videos for fuelling a surge in murders and violent crime in London and singled out drill music. She asked YouTube to delete content which glamorises violence.

UNICAL ex bursar arraigned on charges of multi million naira fraud, wife declared wanted

The ex-bursar of the University of Calabar, Peter Agi has been arraigned before justice I.E Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Calabar on a seven count charge of fraud. He stands accused of using his official position as bursar to defraud the university of various sums by transferring huge sums of money to his wife, Isioma Sarah Agi, and other fictitious persons.

According to court proceedings, Mr Agi built a house valued at over N200million in Calabar between between January 2014 and November 2016. A sum which is in excess of his salary from from January 2011 to November 2016. When confronted, he said the edifice belonged to his 11-year old child. He is also accused of building a house in his village valued at N100million which is said to be above his verifiable sources of income.

A boxer who committed suicide is accused of killing his girlfriend for allegedly lying about her virginity.

Police investigating the deaths believe Gary Chu, 28, killed 27-year-old Yee-min Huang after the pair met on Tinder. Detectives reportedly also suspected the woman had been cheating on him with other men.

'Over N500billion recovered via whistle blower policy' - Buhari

President Buhari has revealed that the staggering sum of over N500billion has been recovered by his administration thanks to the success of the whistle blower policy. He said this during his Democracy Day speech which aired at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

The president's claim however contradicts those of his finance minister, Kemi Adeosun and anti corruption chief, Ibrahim Magu.  As at the end of March, Kemi Adeosun gave N7.8 billion, $378 million and £27,800 as the total recovered through whistle-blowing tips. A total of N143billion.

Video shows New Jersey cop brutally punching a woman on the beach

A New Jersey cop was filmed repeatedly punching a woman on a beach in Southern New Jersey and the video has generated massive outrage.

20-year-old Emily Weinman of Philadelphia was punched mostly on the head as the police officers placed her under arrest for alcohol use.

Lexy Hewitt, the beachgoer who filmed the incident with her phone, narrated the incident.

"She started screaming initially. It was almost like blood-curdling," Hewitt said. "The officers were on top of her on the ground and that's when I just decided — there's so much going on everywhere — why not, just in case [record the incident]."

The video does not show what led to the confrontation.
