According to reports, the controversial Kogi Senator who resumed plenary today decided to sit with PDP senators as against his regular APC side of the aisle.

Even though Senator Ben Bruce has officially welcomed Dino Melaye to PDP, the party's National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbodiyan says, 'this Morning Senator Dino Melaye crossed the aisle of the Red Chamber to the "Comfortable" and "People-Oriented" PDP side.  As a party, we welcome him and awaits his final porting to the Peoples' Party'.

Man battered girlfriend because "she undercooked his chicken Kiev" (photos)

A man beat up his girlfriend so badly that she needed hospital treatment and the reason he gave is that she had undercooked his chicken Kiev.

Scott Howell, 32, an ex-Army reserve soldier, attacked Michelle Mundt, also 32, in anger over his dinner at the home they shared with their baby son in Glasgow, a family friend said. Michell was left with horrendous facial injuries and had to be taken to hospital after the violent assault.

A source close to the family said Michelle had been the victim of abuse for a year before Howell was finally arrested and he was only caught out because Michelle was taken to the hospital.

In a case of apparent murder suicide, a man shot his wife dead then killed himself in Wiharn Khao sub-district of Singburi, Thailand.

Tha Chang police found 57 year old Sawian Janhorm dead in the arms of his wife Kanyaphak, 55.

The evidence showed that Sawian, a truck driver, had shot his wife in the neck then cradled her dead body in his arms and shot himself in the side of the head.

Both were lying in the kitchen in a large pool of blood.

The son of former Zambian President Frederick Chiluba has appealed after he was sentenced to eight months' hard labour for stealing a mobile phone.  

Frederick Chiluba Jr was sentenced two weeks ago after being found guilty of stealing a Samsung S7 edge, valued at $843 (£626). The Lusaka Magistrate court heard how Chiluba Jr stole the device from a woman, Brenda Chisha, on 2 September 2017 before trading it for drugs in a notorious slum in Zambia's capital, Lusaka.  

Lagos Police warn that attack on police or police property will no longer be tolerated after okada riders burn police car in revenge for colleague's death

Motorcycle riders in Lagos, aka Okada men, burnt a police patrol van in Ikorordu today in revenge for a colleague who died while evading police officers.

A statement released by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti stated that the police patrol van was burnt at a spot in Ibeshe, Ipakodo area of Ikorodu, Lagos state, by irate motorcyclists at about 10:45am.

EFCC on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, secured the conviction and sentencing of an Internet fraudster, Oluwatobiloba Badejo, before Justice O.A. Williams of the State High court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.

The convict was arraigned on May 25, 2018 on a two- count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents to the tune of N124, 937.53( One Hundred and Twenty- four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty-seven Naira, Fifty-three Kobo).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today secured the conviction and sentencing of one Taiwo Michael Okunowo, an Internet fraudster, before Justice S.O. Solebo of the State High court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one- count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents.

The convict was arrested following intelligence report received by the Commission on December 15, 2017 about his fraudulent activities.

Rapper Offset was involved in a car crash two weeks ago and he was lucky to escape alive, though he suffered bruises.

He has now revealed that a passerby walking to work saw him after the accident, helped him out of the car and helped him get to where he was going to. As a sign of gratitude, Offset bought the good Samaritan, Jamar Comb, a car.

Polish police arrest 27-year-old Nigerian cybercriminal wanted in the US over $7m fraud, identity theft

Poland's police say they have arrested a Nigerian man who is wanted by Interpol and FBI in the United States for alleged cyberfraud and extortion done over the internet totaling an estimated $7 million.

An elite group from the Polish police’s Central Bureau Investigation (CB?P) said in a communique on Wednesday, that the 27-year-old Nigerian was tracked down in the southwestern city of Wroclaw, as a result of cooperation with the FBI and Interpol, which had circulated a warrant for the man.

The police raid took him by surprise, the communique said.

The man is suspected of banking fraud, extortion and theft of online banking access data as well as an identity theft.

He remains under arrest pending extradition to the United States, where he faces up to 30 years in prison.

Jessa Gillaspie had gone on a trip to the Memphis Zoo with her girlfriend Becky McCabe with the aim of proposing. While there, Becky brought out a ring and went on one knee to propose to a surprised Jessa, not knowing that Jessa also had a ring and was planning to propose to her at the same time. 

When Jessa saw what Becky was doing, she jumped up in excitement, then opened her bag and brought out a ring to propose too.

Chinese National, Ya Ping arraigned for $300,00 money laundering in Abuja

Justice Babatunde Quadri of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, March 30, 2018 admitted in evidence documents tendered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, against a Chinese national, Li Ya Ping, who is facing trial on one count charge for allegedly concealing the sum of $300,000 (equivalent of N108million), while attempting to board a flight to Dubai.

The offence contravenes the dictates of Section 2 (3) (5) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) which states that:“Transportation of cash or negotiable instruments in excess of $10,000 or its equivalent by individuals in or out of the country shall be declared to the Nigerian Customs Service”.

At the resumed hearing, counsel to EFCC, P. K. Latona presented the fourth witness, Hassan Mohammed Misau.

22-year-old Mamoudou Gassama, the Malian immigrant who scaled an apartment building in Paris to save the life of a dangling 4-year-old has joined the fire brigade after he was rewarded for his brave act.

French President Emmanuel Macron granted the hero "Spiderman" French citizenship and was offered to an enrollment to be a firefighter at the French fire service.

On Tuesday, Gassama visited the Paris Fire Brigade headquarters and Champerret fire station and also met with the Paris fire brigade commander general Jean-Claude Gallet.

EFCC detains former Kaduna state governor, Ex-Minister

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has detained a former governor of Kaduna State, Ramalan Yero. The state governor who is being investigated by EFCC since 2016, for the role they played in the disbursement of the N750 million PDP campaign fund before the 2015 general election.

The former Governor and the three others namely Haruna Gaiya a former PDP chairman in the state a former Minister of State for Power, Nuhu Way; and the former Secretary to Kaduna State government, Hamza Ishaq, have been under investigation by EFCC since 2016, for the role they played in the disbursement of the N750 million PDP campaign fund before the 2015 general election.

Oh dear! N1.6bn fraud: Ex-Taraba governor, Jolly Nyame, sentenced to 14 years imprisonment without fine (photos)

Justice Adebunkola Banjoko of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, today sentenced a former governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, to 14 years in prison without an option of fine.

Nyame, who was Taraba State governor between 1999 and 2007, was charged to court by EFCC for the misappropriation of N1.64 billion while he served as governor.

Delivering a judgement that lasted more than four hours on Wednesda, Justice Banjoko found the former governor guilty in 27 out of 41 counts he was charged with. The judge blamed Nyame for financial recklessness and brazen display of executive power without following due process.

'Murdered' Russian journalist and Putin critic who was "killed" in Ukraine turns up alive as it's revealed death was staged to catch a hitman

Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko, who had been reportedly shot and killed in the Ukrainian capital Tuesday, showed up alive at a news conference today.

Vasily Gritsak, head of the Ukrainian Security Service, told a news conference on Wednesday the agency faked Babchenko's death to catch those who were trying to kill him. 

Kiev and national police had said Babchenko, a strong critic of the Kremlin, was shot multiple times in the back at his apartment building and found bleeding by his wife. His death was reported this morning, with Kiev police saying he had been shot dead after returning to his home after going food shopping. 

Ukrainian police spokesman Yaroslav Trakalo said Babchenko was found bleeding by his wife after she heard shooting, adding that he died in an ambulance on his way to hospital. Images circulated online of Babchenko lying on his front with holes in the back of his shirt, and a pool of blood underneath him.

South Africans are angry as government sets minimum wage at $278 per month almost 6 times higher than Nigeria

South Africans are angry and a trade union has accused the government of "legitimising poverty" after the country set its first-ever minimum wage  at $278 per month.

South Africa Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) said it is outraged and disgusted but not surprised by the passing of the minimum wage bill, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by parliament on Tuesday. The bill sets the wage at a minimum of 20 rand ($1.59; £1.20) an hour, which, for a 40-hour week, sets the wage at about $278 per month.

Nigeria's minimum wage - currently set at 18,000 naira ($50; £37) a month has not been increased since 2011.

The union said parliament missed an opportunity to free workers from the oppressive wage gap.

In 2016, a commission led by President Cyril Ramaphosa who was deputy president at the time found almost 50% of employed South Africans earned less than the proposed national minimum wage.

Pastor curses members, asks for N100m from them, and land documents from a woman seeking miracle for her sick child

A video of a pastor placing curses on his church members and intimidating them into donating huge sums and possessions to the church has emerged, shocking Nigerians on social media.

In the video, the pastor is seen speaking to a poor woman whose child has a health issue. He told the woman he wants her to present the documents to a piece of land, and not just in any area like Sango but he wants about 100 acres of land to build an estate in Magodo.

The desperate woman is seen promising to present the land document if he helps her but he hesitated. He said he only worked that way in the past and doesn't work in that manner anymore. The woman then promised to bring the land documents on Sunday.
