Nollywood is not responsible for failed marriages among celebrities - Ronke Oshodi-Oke

Ronke Oshodi Oke has disagreed with the claims that some celebrity failed marriages were caused because of their involvement in Nollywood. 

Speaking on the high rate of divorce in Nollywood, the 45-year-old actress told Sunday Scoop, “It is not because they are actors that their marriages crash .

There is nobody that is insulated from what’s happening in the society at large. Generally, there are many marriages that don’t last. I have seen someone that was married for just two years and she left the marriage. It is not because one is an actress or an actor that one’s marriage would scatter; it is because that’s what is ‘reigning’ for now. It takes true love for anybody to remain in a marriage when the two partners no longer have feelings for each other.”

Zamfara State governor orders immediate construction of RUGA settlement

Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle has ordered for the immediate commencement of construction work on the new Ruga settlements in the state.  

Matawalle issued the directive on Saturday in Gusau after receiving the new Ruga master plan from Emmanuel Ozigi, the project consultant.

Nigerian journalist charged with treason for criticizing Governor Ben Ayade

Agba Jalingo, the publisher of CrossRiverWatch (a Cross River State-based newspaper) who has been in police detention for over a week following his arrest over a report on an alleged diversion of N500 million by the Cross River Governor Ben Ayade, has been charged with treason.

The journalist was handed a four-count charge of treasonable felony, terrorism, cultism, and the disturbance of public peace by the police after being arrested in Lagos and driven by road to Calabar, the capital city of the Cross River State.

Muhammad Akazakwai, a kidnap kingpin said to have masterminded the recent attack on the  Deputy Governor of  Nasarawa State,  Emmanuel Akabe has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). 

The suspect was arrested at his mother’s residence in Kano where he was being treated for gunshot wounds, days after the attack in which 3 policemen and a civilian were shot dead. A source who confirmed the arrest of Akazakwai, told Punch that 50 AK-47 rifles were recovered from him.

I’ll not interfere with EFCC operations - President Buhari

President Buhari has pledged not to interfere with the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as it strives to uncover and prosecute corrupt public officials in the country.  

The president made the pledge on Saturday at the graduation of 328 cadets of the Detective Superintendent Course 8 of the EFCC. The colourful passing out parade took place at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) parade ground, Ribadu Campus, Kaduna.  

The parade climaxed 13 months of rigorous training to avail the officers with the necessary skills of law enforcement. Buhari who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, congratulated the cadets and urged them to contribute their quota to the fight against corruption in the country.

Governor Ganduje threatens to sue Governor Wike over alleged mosque demolition

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has vowed to drag Governor Nyesom Wike to court over the alleged demolition of the Rainbow Town Central Mosque in Trans-Amadi area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital. 

The Governor of one of the 12 northern states practicing Sharia Law said he received the news of the demolition with shock while promising to seek legal redress against the Rivers State Government. 

Police shutdown venue of Bobrisky's 28th birthday party in Lekki

Waje pointed out that there is nothing going on between her daughter and Johnny Drille. She said the Papa singer is family to her and her daughter.

She went on to add that Emerald can now have a boyfriend but said she isn't keen on letting her get married now because she has to finish school first and get to know herself better.

She also advised young women and asked that they try to know themselves before getting into an early marriage. According to Waje, 20 is too early and most women at the age still haven't discovered themselves.

Waje also spoke about her music, her outburst earlier in the year, and disclosed that she's starting her own merch.

Leah, a student of Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi in Yobe state, was kidnapped by a faction of Boko Haram terrorists in February 2018.

Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, denied the reports of Sharibu's death when he spoke with journalists in Abuja today Saturday August 31st. According to Garba, the government is not giving up on negotiations for her release.

Mikel Obi's partner, Olga Diyachenko has reacted to media reports about her alleged plan to dump him, over the footballer's recent move to Turkey.

The report by AOI Football claimed that, 'a very close source to the family stated categorically that the situation could go really sour after Olga told Mikel that she will no longer come to Turkey with her children.

“I can confirm to you that all is not seemingly fine with them. Olga doesn’t like the city and has taken the children back to their base. “In fact, she warned him against the move to Turkey but he convinced her about it. Now she came visiting and doesn’t like it; the kids do not also like it there in Turkey which could now be a problem for Mikel.

“Now Olga has told Mikel that she won’t return to visit him again which means he won’t also see the kids, leaving Mikel with only the chance of seeing his family in December during the Christmas break, a decision which I understand has left him sad, and may unsettle him” the source revealed.

Olga in her reaction expressed her shock and disappointment in the news and especially her followers who were all 'ecstatic' and 'happy' to hear of the 'break up'.

Fraudsters are impersonating our phone numbers and agents - FBI issues public warning

The FBI has issued a warning to the public about a nationwide scam involving perpetrators impersonating its agents and phone numbers.

In targeting unsuspecting victims, the fraudulent caller uses technology to "spoof" the phone number from an actual FBI field office, so victims believe the inbound call is coming from federal law enforcement.

The agency indicated scammers have mimicked telephone numbers belonging to FBI field offices in California, Montana, Colorado, Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. Once connected with a targeted victim, scammers indicate that a warrant of arrest exists for the person, which will be dismissed by a federal court in exchange for immediate payment.

Dambazau’s son sacked as House of Rep member by Kano Tribunal

Shamsuddeen Dambazau, the son of former Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau has been sacked as the member representing Sumaila/Takai Federal Constituency by an election petition tribunal which sat in Kano on Friday August 30. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered to issue certificate of return for the constituency to Surajo Kanawa, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 

Shamsuddeen came second in the APC primaries but became the party's flagbearer in the House of Representatives election after a Federal High Court in Kano disqualified Kawu Sumaila, following the provision of evidence that the former presidential aide contested for Kano South senatorial ticket on the platform of the APC.
