The Statement Bag: Because Ordinary Was Never the Assignment.

I have always been a very big fan of statement bags, and trust me, I know a fabulous one when I see it—winks. There is something incredibly powerful about carrying a handbag that does more than simply hold your essentials. A truly unforgettable bag introduces you before you say a word, transforms even the simplest outfit and reveals a little of your personality. Whether it is an oversized sculptural design, a rich oxblood-red tote, an embellished evening bag or an unusual architectural shape, the right statement bag can turn a classic black dress, tailored suit or everyday jeans into a complete fashion moment.

For me, a good statement bag must have presence, personality and purpose. I look at the quality of the material, the strength of the shape, the beauty of the hardware and, of course, whether it makes my heart skip a beat. It does not necessarily have to carry an expensive designer label; some of the most exciting bags are found in independent boutiques, vintage shops or unexpected high-street collections. What matters is that it looks beautifully made, feels special and reflects the woman carrying it.

The secret to styling a bold handbag is allowing it to be the star. Keep the outfit polished, choose clean silhouettes and let the bag provide the drama. A sculptural burgundy bag looks incredible with an all-black outfit, while cobalt blue can energise winter cream, camel or chocolate brown. For an evening look, metallic finishes, crystals, feathers and unusual handles can add just the right amount of glamour.

Fashion should be practical, but it should also bring us joy—and a great statement bag does both. It carries our phones, keys, lipstick and the countless little things we cannot leave home without, while giving us that extra confidence to walk into a room like we belong there.
